| Discovered this afternoon a whole new use for instant messenger. I successfully instigated a free-for-all between fr00t l00p, d@ @si@n, mac and chase. Phew...sure hope everyone is ok. I am somewhat relieved knowing that I am at a rather safe distance from the fray. It was HILARIOUS though imagining from the conversations what was going on see what you think....

Boys...Boys...
Good times! Have a Grreat weekend. Here's hoping your Bball Tournament bracket is worse than mine
| Especially so all my Florida pals know what's up, after this morning, I probably won't be on-line again until Monday. I'm going to a basketball tournament near Scranton that our boys' team has been invited to play in. w00t w00t! a three-and-a-half-day weekend with wall to wall basketball.
It's been too long since I've talked to Stevey. Can't wait to catch up with ya. Gald you are safe! Got to talk with Mickey for the first time yesterday. That was way cool . He was spyin, though, under Chase's screen name . After hearing so much about him, i was glad to meet d@ @si@n all for myself!
That's all for now. Have a great weekend...Catch ya Monday!
| Soooooo much has happened since my last update. Thanks to all of you bloggers who are so patient and gentle in your reminders of the need to update. Special thanks to thebyrdhasdanced5 and Stevey. Hmmm.....where to begin?
One highlight since my last update has been the friendship that I have developed with one Mr. Steven Lancey. He sought me out on Instant Messanger one night and quickly God has allowed us to become good friends. I could never have imagined how God would broaden my circle of friends by means of a computer. In talking about our relationship with Jesus, Peter says, "Whom having not seen, you love." (1 Peter 1:8) As a result of my friendship with Stevey, God has allowed me some insights into just what Peter was talking about.
Another highlight has been the realization of just how far around the world the ripples from CCA are reaching. For example, as I type, one of our students (Seth R.) is in Romania with his dad on a short missions trip. One of last year's graduates (Jester P.) is preparing for missions at a school in Italy. One of our School Board members (Mr. Briggs) is in India pilotting a music program in a Christian School there. And that only begins to scratch the surface. The cool thing is that the present group of CCA students are at that point of impact, and who knows what God is going to do through them. I get excited just thinking about it.
Our leadership team did a great job in planning our first ever Career Fair. Job well done, gang. I am proud of you! Some of our past graduates shared testimonies in chapel. It is a privilege for me to have had the opportunity to be part of so many great kids' lives (and the lives of their families as well).
The most random highlight of the last month is that I learned how to play Spoons! I learned with my sister-in-law's family on Super Bowl Sunday. i finished in 3rd (out of 10). My nephews Phil and Travis play a full contact version. We broke one plastic spoon and several had scrapes and scratches on their arms and hands.
Enjoy the new reading material! No promises about increased regularity (due to low fiber content, no doubt )
| stop the presses....a second update in less than a week.
was great to see kev d on friday when michelle came to lead worship in chapel. was it coincidence that they were here at the same time ?
all 3 teams played great on friday night! girls were ooooohhh sooooo close to tying it up and going to overtime, where they would have won, i'm sure. keep working hard ladies! i'm proud of you!
good to have butler's back. pb, did you have to rub it in so ? can't wait to see the pictures.
packers lost in the playoffs and i'm a little disappointed , but not all that surprised. having grown up in PA, i think that now i will cheer for an all PA super bowl. go eagles and steelers.
pc has coined a new word...wowsomeness. i like it.
communion service was a great time of remembering what Jesus did for us. as the deacons were passing out the juice and i was reflecting on pastor's devotional, the thought struck me that when He established the communion service, Jesus gave us something that involved all of our senses as an aid to remembering Him. we SEE the cracker and juice as well as the words in Scripture that teach us about communion and tell us about Jesus; we HEAR the devotional and the music for meditation; we TOUCH the cracker (think about what Thomas said); we SMELL the juice (Eph 5:2-"Christ has loved us, and has given Himself for us as as offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma"); we TASTE the cracker and juice (Psa 34:8-"O taste (perceive) and see (for yourself) that the Lord is good"). these are random (didn't think i'd ever use that word, did ya?) thoughts i had about communion and its purpose of remembering Jesus. someone might ask how you remember things, and it's hard to explain, but in the communion service, we see Jesus giving us multiple hooks on which we can hang those memories and recall them when those senses are stimulated.
you gotta see the pictures on tyler distad's blog (NeXangPas). prepare for a shock .
that's about it from here for now. have a grrrreat day!
| aahhh...a snow day . all's quiet around cca. thought it would be a good opportunity to update. since it's been sooooooooooooooo long i won't take bethany c's approach and give a little blurb about each day or i'd be here forever. so let's just start all over again.
had a good christmas vacation. other than travelling to spend time with both sides of our family, we pretty much laid low around home. we celebrated our christmas on monday, dec 27 and took all day with the activities we had planned. several years ago we began traditions that result in us enjoying the whole day together. these were mostly my honey's ideas and we all look forward to them. the highlight of the day (apart from the Person whose birth we celebrate) was probably major gifts that we gave to jeffrey and darren. they are things that will allow them to pursue things in which they have expressed interest and we hope these gifts will last them a lifetime. if you are curious, you can ask them what they received and how we presented their gifts to them.
on our way back from jersey shore, PA, we stopped at the pyramid mall. all of the kids had received money from gm and gp miller that they just had to spend. while we were there, i ran into mrs. sandy schoenfeldt. for those of you who may not know, sandy's husband jim was a teacher here at cca for a long time. we worked together and hunted together and became good friends. unfortunately we don't see them much any more, because most of their activity now is in the ithaca area. sandy had her 2 daughters-in-law with her. i had never met derek's wife. i didn't know that derek and his wife had a beautiful 10 month old daughter . of course i had to see the pictures . sandy reminisced about derek helping the kids that graduated last year in gym class and recess when they were like first graders. do you remember this, almost_61_inches? my, how time marches on.
something that sandy said really stuck with me, and i wanted to share it with you. i told sandy to be sure to tell her husband and sons that i sent my greetings to them. she said that she would share with them the same kind of "heart hug" that we had been able to share as we talked and caugth up with one another a little bit. what a neat description that is of the kind of relationships that God has allowed me to develop throughout my life. some people i see regularly; others i see at "chance" crossings of our paths; others i her form only occasionaly and still others, i only hear about. whatever form the interaction may take, the phrase "heart hug" is a wonderful description of the thoughts that i have for so many of the people that God has brought into my life. so to all of you who are interested enough in me to read this, thanx, and consider yourself to have been "heart-hugged"
i did make some resolutions for the start of the new year. one that i did not make was to blog daily . i will try to do better. thanx for your patience with me. that's all for now!
